Getting Started: Tito

This is Tito, our first bunny, he is a 1 year old mini lop but when I got him I never thought mini really meant huge, and with a giant head!

Some people might say that he is rather antisocial, even an aloof bunny, but I like to say he is sociable and loving in his own Tito kind of way. He doesn't like to be held, i think he is very afraid of heights, he doesn't climb on anything, he likes to stay always on the floor.

He has his several sociable moments durring the day and he'll come to you to be petted, but he'll probably decide soon that it was enough.

This is Tito in his bathroom, he was very easy to train, actually, he didn't need any trainning at all, he did everyhting by himself. He is a very clean bunny too, you will never see him with food or any kind of dirt attached to his fur.

He hasn't being neutered yet, due to the lack of capable vets around this area, but next weeek i'm meeting with a vet specialized in surgery in exotic animals.

Oh, I almost forgot, i'm not even sure its a he.

Eventhough I read a lot before getting Tito, i made several "beginners mistake" and he is one spoiled bunny!. I didn't assign him any particular space in the house so.. he just took it all! The second things I had problems with was with his litterbox, I tried two products that where the only ones available in the dozens of pet stores i visited that then turned out to be very bad for bunnies, lucky I found out this real soon, so now I only put newspaper in the litterbox (its the best I can do). Another mistake I made concernes his diet, it tok me a while to find hay, and I only found one kind, and by the time I found it Tito was old enough to decided he didn't want that new ingredient in his food. he doesn't eat it even if it is the only food he has. His diet consists in pellets, parsley, carrot and spinach.

About a month ago we moved, and Tito has not being the same, he is still in adjustment period. We put him in the spare room, for a whole day he didn't leave his litterbox, and so far he doesn't dare to leave t he room. I'm hoping hell feel safer and get more brave in a couple of weeks. Tito is not happy as he can be since he is not neutered, sexual behaviour gets in the middle of bonding and making other bunny friends, that's why getting him surgery is a first priority!
